I have a passion to for things to be done right. I actually got excited about the House about two and half years ago. My husband and I were going through some of the most challenging times of our lives. I found myself in the House contending for a bill that looked almost impossible to pass. The bill would challenge the age children are considered legal adults. The age is now 17, and children can leave their homes. At the age of 17 these youth are not able to rent, open a checking account, or get health care without a parent, but they are able to leave their homes and drop out of school. Of course this promotes a variety of problems for the youth and family members and then filters down to the society of Missouri. The bill has, at the time of this writing, not passed the Senate.
I have a passion to see that the rights of parents protected and restored. We should not have to worry about our youth; our children not being protected by the State of Missouri. Having lived through this as parents we know the heartache this produces. We are your normal, midwestern, Christian family, raising our childern to be productive citizens of our great state. If this could happen to our family, it could happen to any family. I know that Representative Maynard Wallace has helped in the area of protecting and promoting the rights of Missouri Teachers, but without the laws protecting the rights of the parents, our seventeen year olds will continue to walk out our schools without a diploma. The decisions that our youth make at an early age have definite effects on their adult life.
